Description

Conway’s Arcade is an interactive arcade installation developed for Google and presented at NeurIPS 2025 in San Diego, in collaboration with SGx, Special Guest and 1stAveDesign. The project reinterprets classic arcade mechanics through AI-driven rule systems inspired by cellular automata, resulting in a set of playable games whose behaviors evolve beyond fixed, pre-defined logic. Instead of relying on static game rules, the system introduces adaptive behaviors generated through AI, creating unpredictable and emergent gameplay dynamics. The physical machine, designed and fabricated by Seis Punyales, was developed through an iterative prototyping process that tightly connects hardware constraints, fabrication methods, and interaction design. In this project, I worked as a Creative Engineer, focusing on the design of the custom electronics and the firmware development for the arcade controllers. I developed the embedded systems responsible for handling user input and ensuring reliable communication between the hardware layer and the game engine, contributing to a responsive and robust interactive experience.
